The War Room - December 3, 2020
*** LSU now has 20 commitments after DT Anthony Hundley and LB Naquan Brown reopened their recruiting processes. This is what I have been referencing for about a month now. I thought the movement would have started a bit earlier, but it might not be the last. Senior film on some prospects have not measured up and there are also some kids who's academics might not be where they need to be. So stay tuned!*** For a while I've thought that LSU might just decide to roll with one running back for 2021 in commit Corey Kiner (he signs with LSU on Dec. 16). Especially wth two stellar backs in Trevor Etienne and Le'Veon Moss in-state for 2022. I'm told they are budgeted for two and are pushing for two. Long-time Auburn commit Armoni Goodwin reopened his recruiting process last week and LSU feels darn good about where they are positioned with him. Goodwin says Auburn still a possibility, FSU is a factor but this one is...LSU probable.*** Walker wide receiver Brian Thomas is still a possibility to LSU. Earlier today I spoke with a Texas A&M source and he's not hearing much on Aggies with Thomas. That leaves Alabama as the main competitor. It's going to be interesting to see how this one plays out. He's not expected to sign in a few weeks. LSU possible*** Five star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh. Confidence level is still high with LSU for Leigh. I'm keeping him in the probable category based on what i've picked up this week. Oklahoma, Ohio State and others have made pushes but I still think Coach Cregg's relationship carries the day.Leigh just announced on twitter that he's visiting Oklahoma this weekend. Heading into this weekend i'm keeping LSU probable but let's see how he comes out of the visit to Norman. LSU probable*** Offensive guard/center Savion Byrd, Duncanville, TX, I've had him in the probable category for a few months and i'm knocking him down to possible. The kid could still end up staying close to home with SMU. Makes no sense to most people but we'll see how this plays out. LSU possible*** Who are the other offensive line possibilities? I'm told they want at least three or "four if they are the right four". Others to watch out forOL Kimo Makaneole , FSU commit, Niceville, Fla.OL Caleb Etienne Butler CC (prepped at Warren Easton). Currently committed to Oklahoma St.OL Jordan Moko, Snow College (JUCO) Ephraim, Utah.OL Rayshaun Benny (currently committed to Michigan St. as DL)*** LSU is still after several defensive ends in Shemar Turner of Desoto, TX and Bryce Langston of Vanguard HS in Ocala, Fla. Turner is going to be difficult to land. Texas A&M folks are confident on him. Langston is a stones throw from Gainesville and the Gators are the favorite.*** On defense the focus has been safety and linebacker for LSU. Four safeties on board and that could be one more of U-High's Jardin Gilbert chooses LSU on January 2. Khari Gee could be a linebacker. Linebackers to watch out for include JUCO linebacker Navonteque Strong of Mississippi Gulf Coast (Miss. St. commit) and Georgia's Trevin Wallace of Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County. Wallace was committed to Boston College but backed off of that pledge. His stock has flown through the roof in recent weeks as his senior film has been spectacular. Same goes for Strong has he reminds some of Patrick Queen.*** Five-star defensive lineman Maason Smith is going to sign on December 16 and he's firmly in the probable category.*** Five-star defensive lineman Korey Foreman was just about set to come to Baton Rouge earlier this week and now that is not happening. USC is making a push as has Arizona State for several months then a surprise visit back to Clemson last week.. Does this all come back around to him staying out west after being committed to Clemson, leaning to LSU and Georgia? Going to be interesting. *** A lot of people are getting nervous about long-time linebacker commit Raesjon Davis' flirtation with USC and the possibility of him not signing in a few weeks. Davis has been one of the most active Tiger commits trying to recruit others to the LSU 2021 class. Ed Orgeron and staff need to make sure that they get him signed on December 16. They don't need to let that one to go to 2021. Especially since linebacker is such a need position and he's one of nation's best.

The War Room- 2021 recruiting reset
War Room*** Four-star safety Derrick Davis of Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway High School is set to announce his verbal commitment tomorrow at approximately 3pm CST. The assumption going into this week after he visited Baton Rouge last weekend was that he was Penn State bound, especially after Sage Ryan committed to LSU.Well, I put in a prediction for LSU in the chat last night and on facebook live after talking to my source early evening last night.LSU wants more safety help and they are looking to rebuild that position in a hurry. *** With Davis tomorrow, that would give LSU 22 commitments for the class of 2021. Everyone knows there's more names on the board than there are spots. LSU will sign a full class of 25 for this year. Whether that's 24 with one spot held back for a grad transfer remains to be seen but they will have a full class of 25.Obviously, there's going to be some movement in the class here in the coming weeks. That's a sensitive situation, so i'm not going to speculate. There are still many LSU fans out there who think what LSU offered to the NCAA is currently accepted and it affects the class. No, it is not in effect yet and it only has to do with the 85 roster. Not the individual classes. Also, I'm told that LSU has no idea right now as to when they'll get word from the NCAA on whether they accept the self-imposed sanctions that they offered up. *** The biggest need in this class the rest of the way is offensive linemen. I still have Tristan Leigh and Savion Byrd in the probable category to LSU. There's also some possibilities of grad transfers that could be visited in the spring if LSU is under.*** Running backs. Still recruiting several but can also take it to the house with just Corey Kiner if they don't get who they want. They are still after Auburn commit Armoni Goodwin and taking a strong look at Notre Dame commit Logan Diggs of Rummel.*** LSU is still trying to make things happen with big Texas DE Shemar Turner of Desoto, Texas. He's in the 275-pound range which is what LSU under Bo Pelini is looking for. LSU has had success at that school. Ed Ingram, Evan Washington and Jalen Mills. A&M folks seem confident, but Alabama, Georgia, Texas and others also involved. Would be huge to land Turner to go along with Saivion Jones and Landon Jackson.*** Nothing new on 5-star defensive lineman Maason Smith. He's still a probable to LSU and I hope to have something coverage wise on him in the coming few weeks.*** Five-star defensive end Korey Foreman is still a possibility for LSU but like we've been saying for a while they are battling Georgia. I'm also told that Arizona State could be getting in there and making things interesting. *** Walker wide receiver Brian Thomas is sticking in the probable category. After getting Jack Bech's commitment I know many thought that meant Thomas was lost either because of why they went after Bech or just from a numbers crunch. No, LSU is still solidly after Thomas. I'm here all weekend to answer your questions. I feel like i'm missing something in this reset so I might come back and add more.

The War Room - 2021 Recruiting Reset, Oct. 1
With 7 spots left to fill out the class of 2021 there's a lot of questions regarding multiple positions that could possibly fill out the remaining few spots beyond the guys we think we can accurately project as commitments.Let's try and fill in the blanks on the remaining spots. This is not an order that we think they will commit.*** Walker wide receiver Brian Thomas. I've now seen and interviewed Brian twice in the last six weeks and I think the only reason he hasn't committed already is because he has not had a chance to visit any other schools. I'm told that his relationship with former LSU running backs coach Tommie Robinson who is now at Texas A&M is part of why he's delayed. He has said he wants to visit College Station and he wants to keep his word with Robinson. The relationship with Zachary wide receiver and LSU commit Chris Hilton is a positive and I think the Tiger coaches have done a strong job weeding through some of that Alabama muck in the spring. LSU probable*** Lafayette Christian Academy safety Sage Ryan put out his final three of LSU, Clemson and Alabama last month. He maintains he wants to take visits but if the NCAA doesn't open things up in January he will just make a decision. LSU probable*** Offensive lineman Tristan Leigh of Fairfax, VA (Robinson Secondary) and his several visits to Baton Rouge in the last six weeks, plus our interviews and other sourced info has everything pointing to LSU. LSU probable*** Five-star defensive lineman Maason Smith of Terrebone is going to put out his final five list on his birthday, October 13. We'll see who ends up on that list, but ertainly, I think Georgia and others will be there. However, I see no way he signs anywhere but LSU.LSU probable*** Five-star defensive lineman Korey Foreman of Corona, Calif. (Centennial HS) was back in Baton Rouge this past weekend for another visit and my source tells me what it was very positive. The confidence from the LSU side of things has been high for many months. There seemed to be a lull about a month or so ago but I think the optimism is the highest it has ever been. This past weekend he and family bought their own tickets, were in the stands for the game, dined at Walk On's several times and things seem to be progressing more and more in the LSU direction. And yes, the relationship with Maason Smith is also a positive despite the fact that I've never believed in package deals.LSU probable*** Last week, LSU offered Malik Nabers now of Southside High School in Youngsville, La. He's been committed to Mississippi State since July 28. It's awful whats going on with him and the Comeaux folks blocking his athletic eligibility. He's been tweeting about it all day today and it's become almost like a #FreeMalik thing. They need to get that resolved. Kids in that area of south Lafayette have the legal ability to choose between Comeaux and the recently built modern Southside. He took that waiver and went. His offer from LSU has nothing to do with how the Tigers coaching staff feel about their positioning with Brian Thomas. They truly feel like he's a gifted player that they don't want to get away.LSU possible*** Offensive lineman Savion Byrd of Duncanville, TX was a part of the gathering of LSU commits and recruiting targets last month. He commuted from Texas with quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. My source tells me LSU leads so I have himLSU probable*** That is 24 guys listed above if all the probables indeed commit and sign. Who might be the 25th? I know that QB Cole Lourd is someone they want to have in the program so we will see how that plays out. The other possibilities are.. TE Michael Trigg OL Bryce Foster, Kimo Makaneole, Niceville, FL (Fla. State commit) RB Armoni Goodwin , Camar Wheaton, Donovan Edwards, Logan Diggs
