TURNING POINT OF THE GAME

There was never any doubt about the outcome of the game. LSU got the game well in hand when it drove 79 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter to go ahead 21-0. On that scoring drive, Burrow completed passes to Moreau, Marshall and Jonathan Giles for first downs. A pass interference call set up the touchdown – a 2-yard run by Brossette.

LSU OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME

Burrow had one of his best games of the season as he completed more than 70 percent of his pass attempts (20-of-28) for the first 300-yard passing game of his career. Burrow could have had a higher completion percentage as he had four passes dropped or go through the hands of his receivers. Burrow’s two touchdown passes increased his total on the season to nine.

LSU DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME

Probably playing in his final game at Tiger Stadium, linebacker Devin White led the LSU defense with nine tackles. White had one sack and one quarterback-hurry. He also had one pass breakup.

FROM THE LOCKER ROOM

Coach Ed Orgeron’s comments: “This was a nice one for the Tigers. We had 552 yards of offense. It was our best offensive game of the year. We ran tempo in the Georgia game and did well. So, we went back to tempo tonight. Our defense did really well. We had our third-team defense in on the last drive (when Rice scored its touchdown). We had a couple of dropped passes which we have to fix. Other than that, we did well on offense. We protected the quarterback. We ran the ball and we got the ball deep to our athletes in space. Obviously, we did this against a lesser opponent. We are 9-2 and we have a big week ahead of us. This game (against Texas A&M) will mean a lot of things. But, I’m not going to put a lot on our team. It’s a one-game season. We want to win ten games and go to a New Year’s Six bowl. We have a big challenge ahead.”
