LSU falls to Florida, 76-73, waits for selection Sunday

LSU was bounced from the SEC Tournament in the first round Friday afternoon as Florida’s Andrew Nembhard made a three-point shot with 1.2 seconds in rgulation to defeat the Tigers, 76-73.

The Tigers who were the number one seed in the SEC tourament now await their NCAA tournament seeding and destination on Sunday. The selection show will be televised on CBS at 5 p.m. CST. 

“We played hard and fought to the end but Nembhard just made a big-time shot,” guard Tremont Waters said.

In a losing effort, freshman Naz Reid led the Tigers with 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting along with 14 rebounds.

The No. 8-seeded Gators advance to face face the winner of No. 4 seed South Carolina and No. 5 seed Auburn.  

LSU is expected to be either a No.2 or No.3 seed when the NCAA tournament backets are released on Sunday.
