The War Room -- Signing Day Eve edition
Well, I've been having some fun "five for five" flashbacks the last few days as we try to predict how Brian Kelly and staff will finish off his first signing class of high school prospects on Wednesday. In this case, there are six prospects we are waiting on and It sure seems like LSU is positioned very well with all of them but there's also some gray area or reasons to be nervous with multiple of them.I'm going to give my thoughts on each prospect in the order that they are announcing their decisions tomorrow.Cornerback Jaelyn Davis-Robinson of Waxahachie, Texas gets it done first tomorrow morning at 9am CT. He'll choose between LSU, Oregon and Boston College and after a strong visit to LSU and their need at that position, I believe it's LSU. Running back TreVonte Citizen of Lake Charles Prep announces at 11am. I believe LSU and Frank Wilson have done everything possible to land Citizen. I think of all the prospects on the board from Louisiana, he's the one that's most likely to leave the state. There appears to be a lot of push and pull in his inner circle and I think the kid has others influencing his decision. I believe it's going to be Florida over LSU, but maybe he shocks me.Tight end Danny Lewis of New Iberia-Westgate will announce at 1pm. It's a LSU-Alabama battle for him, but I think in the end it will be LSU. I've maintained for two months that I have a hard time believing a kid from The Berry goes anywhere but LSU. Wide receiver Caleb Douglas of Hightower HS, Missouri City, TX announces at 1:30pm. Everything I've gotten on Douglas is Florida on him. I might change my mind in the morning with more info but the best info tonight is that he'll be a Gator. What hasn't been said about five-star linebacker Harold Perkins of Cy Park, Cypress, TX. The recruiting process for him has been very heated and has had tons of drama. The New Orleans native was once committed to Texas A&M, he opened things back up last month and I think after a strong visit to LSU, Frank Wilson's efforts I'm picking him to sign with LSU tomorrow. The confidence level from my source on this one seems to be damn strong tonight!Ponchatoula safety Jacoby Mathews will announce at 6pm.. I think Jacoby has always wanted to be a LSU Tiger. Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M have done a darn good job recruiting him and the NIL money being floated from Texas is large. However, I'm going to say he stays home and signs with LSU. This is another outstanding effort by Frank Wilson. BOTTOM LINE: I've never heard so many of my sources and peers in the recruiting coverage media be as cautious on making predictions with kids than I have this year. Why? It's all about NIL. It's no longer mostly about relationships, fit, home school, etc. Money is a big factor and with some prospects and their inner circle, it's the only factor.THAT SAID, If LSU finishes with the guys I said above it's a fantastic class and a GREAT day for Brian Kelly and staff. The recruiting weekend
Most of the high school prospects who LSU is waiting on to finish out the 2022 class haven't been big on interviews for quite awhile. We've reached out to all of the prospects who were on campus for official visits this morning and we hope to get something on the record from some of them or someone in their inner circle at some point. What I can tell you is that I think LSU is about to finish strong and I think that means they get the majority of the official visitors who have been on campus this past week.I like where things stand with Jacoby Mathews and Danny Lewis and I've gotten good reports on Caleb Douglas and Jaelyn Davis-Robinson but need a bit more info on both of those.I think the Wildcards are of course Harold Perkins and TreVonte Citizen. There's been a bit of scuttlebutt coming across my phone that Perkins and Mathews are close and want to attend the same school. LSU got Perkins last visit, the Uncle is in the Tigers corner and Frank Wilson has done a fantastic job here. I'm not making any predictions yet, but I do believe there are reasons to be optimistic if you're a LSU fan.Citizen has been leaning Auburn for many weeks since November but Napier and Florida have made a strong push. His visit to LSU last weekend went very well but i'm not sure how that one shakes out. I'm working the phones non stop right now and of course will take a bit of focus off at 2pm to watch the Bengals but I think things could get very quiet on a lot of prospects. The NFL championship games today and the recruiting dead period starts at midnight.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.
