NFL veteran Bill Johnson joins LSU football staff
With the double patella knee injury suffered by LSU defensive line coach Dennis Johnson, Ed Orgeron has hired Bill Johnson to coach that position on an interim basis.
Johnson was on Sean Payton’s New Orleans Saints staff from 2009-2016. Last season he was with the Los Angeles Rams.
The 64-year old Johnson was a graduate of Neville High School in Monroe.
He’s expected to coach the Tigers defensive line until Dennis Johnson has completed his rehab and is mobile again.
Since the start of fall camp Ed Orgeron has been more involved coaching the defensive line along with Kenechi Udeze (analyst) and graduate assistant Christian LaCouture.
