LSU-Florida game most watched game on ESPN in almost 2 years

BATON ROUGE – LSU’s win over seventh-ranked Florida on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium was the most watched college football game on ESPN in nearly two years as the telecast averaged 6.45 million viewers, the network announced.

The Tigers, behind the play of four-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week Joe Burrow and a defense that held the Gators to just one second half touchdown, won its second contest over a Top 10 opponent this year. The 42-28 victory marked the sixth Top 10 win for LSU since the start of the 2018 season and improved its record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Played before a capacity crowd of over 102,000 fans in Tiger Stadium, the LSU-Florida contest was also one of the five most watched games on record during the month of October on ESPN since 1994.

Viewership of the LSU-Florida game peaked at 7.428 million viewers in the second half between 9:45 and 10 p.m.

New Orleans led all markets with a 30.6 local rating, followed by Birmingham at 27.6.

Second-ranked LSU returns to action on Saturday, traveling to face Mississippi State at 2:30 p.m. CT in a game televised on CBS.
