Derrick Davis commits to LSU
For a second straight Saturday, LSU has picked up one of the nation's top-five safety prospects. Class of 2021 four-star Derrick Davis of Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway has announced his commitment to LSU.
“For the next three to four years I will be taking my talent to LSU,” he announced on Instagram.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety committed to LSU over Penn State and Ohio State. He also considered offers from many of the nation’s top programs including Michigan, Clemson, Notre Dame, Alabama, Clemson and many others.

Last weekend, while LSU was on the road at Auburn, Davis made the trip to Baton Rouge to tour the city and campus on his own with family. That trip was a smashing success as the family liked the campus, the city as well as a visit to New Orleans.
LSU safeties coach Bill Busch continues to show why he’s arguably the top recruiter on Ed Orgeron’s staff as he is responsible for recruiting Davis.
“When I took that visit down there it just felt like the place to be,” Davis said.
With Davis’ pledge, LSU now has 22 commitments and four safeties for the class of 2021. Four-star safety Sage Ryan of Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy committed to LSU last Saturday. Safety Matthew Langlois of New Roads (La.) Catholic-Pointe Coupee announced his pledge on Monday of that week as well. Khari Gee of Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy has been committed to LSU since May.
