LSU has landed a biggie for the class of 2021 at a position of serious need.

Clemson starting linebacker Mike Jones Jr. entered the transfer portal last month and LSU is where he will finish out his collegiate career.

With his commitment, LSU now has 24 commitments for the class of 2021.

Jones suffered a rash of iinjuries last year but still started seven games.  He totaled 30 tackles, including four for loss. He added a pair of interceptions including one against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Jones was a consensus Top-200 prospect out of high school.  He's from Lebanon, Tenn.   With the free year due to Covid, Jones could have up to three years of eligibility.

LSU football general manager Austin Thomas recruited Jones when he was a high school prospect in Tennesssee before attending IMG Academy.
