Five-star safety Jacoby Mathews commits to LSU
The LSU football programs class of 2022 picked up one of the nation's most elite athletes Friday as Five-star pospect Jacoby Mathews of Ponchatoula has announced his commitment he's committed.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety committed to LSU over Florida, Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Texas.
Mathews who played quarterback for the Green Wave currently projects as a safety but he could also grow into a hybrid outside linebacker.
With Mathews commitment, LSU now has 13 commitments for the class of 2022. The class is a consensus Top-3 ranked recruiting class nationally.
LSU wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph is the biggest factor in Mathews choosing the Tigers and he’s also been assisted by new defensive coordinator Daronte Jones.
