Mekhi Garner commits to LSU

LSU has added a top flight cornerback to replace all the defections to the NFL and transfer portal.  Louisiana-Lafayette defensive back Mekhi Garner has announced his commitment to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-2, 217-pound Garner finished the 2021 season with 31 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and eight pass breakups.  

He is a native of Mesquite Texas where he prepped at Poteet High School.  He attended Navarro College before ULL.    He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Garner is very much need for LSU as the Tigers top four cornerbacks have been lost to the NFL Draft or the transfer portal.  Derek Stingley and Cordale Flott are headed to the NFL draft early while Elias Ricks (signed with Alabama) and Dwight McGlothern entered the transfer portal.
