Four-star safety Michael "King" Daugherty commits to LSU
Class of 2023 four-star defensive back Michael Daugherty of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson has announced his verbal commitment to LSU.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect chose LSU over offers from Florida, Georgia, Louisville, North Carolina, Texas, USC, Texas, Oregon and many others.
“I got to follow my heart on this decision,” Daugherty said. “I feel like everything I have been talking about with Coach Kelly and his staff, coach House, coach Cooks has been everything that I need to hear.
“I have to follow my heart on this. My family supported me through this whole decision so there was nothing holding me back.”
He visited LSU officially on the weekend of April 1, which was followed by a visit to North Carolina.
Daugherty is considered to be a consensus Top-150 prospect nationally as well as one of the top-12 players in talent rich Georgia. Last season, he totaled 91 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, four sacks and a fumble recovery.
LSU safeties coach Kerry Cooks has told Daugherty that he could play both safety and nickel for the Tigersd. With his commitment, LSU now has three commitments for the class of 2023.
