Four-star safety Ryan Yaites commits to LSU
LSU-DBU is getting restocked as class of 2023 four-star safety Ryan Yaites of Denton (TX) Guyer has announced his committed to the Tigers.
Yates is the second four-star safety to pledge to the Tigers in the last 48 hours as Michael Daugherty of Loganville (GA) Grayston gave Brian Kelly his public commitment Wednesday evening.
“Coach Kelly has brought more energy to the table and building something special,” Yaites said. “At the crawfish boil (March junior day) he was talking about how I was one of their top guys even when I was at Notre Dame.
“He said my goal is to get you to come play for me and that is what I’m going to do.”
Yaites chose LSU over Texas Tech, Ole Miss and California. He visited LSU unofficially in early March.
LSU safeties coach Kerry Cooks is recruiting Yaites for the Tigers staff.
“He’s a great guy and I had a past relationship with him at Notre Dame,” Yaites said. “He’s always talking to me about where he sees me playing. I see him as like being on the family side.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back finished his junior season with 42 tackles, eight pass break-ups and one interception.
With Yaites pledge, LSU now has four commitments for the class of 2023.
