LSU Outguns Florida 45-35 in The Swamp

Many fans and pundits lobbied for then UL Lafayette coach Billy Napier to get the LSU job last year.

Fast forward 12 months and Napier found himself as the head coach of Florida (4-3, 1-3) hosting LSU’s new head coach, Brian Kelly.

Kelly took round one after an offensive explosion led LSU (5-2, 3-1) to a 45-35 win.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels led LSU’s offense to 528 total yards and touchdowns on the Tigers’ first six drives.

Daniels accounted for touchdowns on all six of those drives. He finished with 383  total yards completing 23 of 32 attempts for 349 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He rushed the ball 14 times for 44 yards and three touchdowns.

Daniels actually was not LSU’s leading rusher this game - a rare occasion this season. LSU running back Josh Williams led in that category with 106 yards on 14 carries.

After jumping out to a commanding 42-21 lead, LSU did allow Florida to fight back stringing together a pair fourth quarter touchdowns including an 81-yard scramble from Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Richardson finished the game by going 15-25 for 185 yards and a touchdown, adding 109 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

LSU kicker Damien Ramos followed that up with a 47-yard field goal with 1:52 left to play securing the victory for LSU.

LSU receiver Kayson Boutte had his first 100-yard game since October of last season against Auburn. His six catches for 115 yards were a welcome sight for Kelly.

“If he plays at that level, we’re a different football team,” Kelly said.

Defensively, LSU limited Florida to 395 yards. Micah Baskerville was LSU’s leading tackler with 11 tackles, a sack and a pass breakup.

LSU has won ten of its last 13 games against Florida and tied the all-time series at 33-33-
