Four-star CB Cai Bates commits to LSU

LSU-DBU is back in full swing as four-star cornerback Cai Bates‍ of Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater has announced his verbal commitment to LSU.

“It’s been my dream since a child growing up watching Patrick Peterson's highlight mix tapes, Tyrann Mathieu and all that good stuff,” Bates said after he announced his decision.  

He announced his commitment via a ceremony broadcast on YouTube.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Bates committed to LSU over Tennessee, Florida State, Alabama, Colorado and Ohio State. 

Bates pledge now gives LSU 20 commitments for the class of 2024.  He is the fourth cornerback commit in the class.

The Sunshine state prospect visited LSU officially last month and is being recruited by cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples.

Last season, Bates totaled three tackles, four interceptions and four passes broken up.  Offensively, he caught 17 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown.

“They definitely want me to come in as a true freshman and learn on the go,” Bates said.  “There’s definitely high expectations for me coming in.”
