CJ Jackson commits to LSU
Class of 2024 edge linebacker CJ Jackson of Tucker, Georgia has announced his verbal commitment to LSU.
““I took an OV (official visit) in June and it kind of felt like home then. Tech came in last minute and there were some personal things going on so I thought it was best to commit then,” Jackson told TigerBait.com. “It’s called NFLSU for a reason, they develop their guys and that’s something I want to be a part of.”
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound linebacker was once committed to Georgia Tech but decommitted on October 5. He chose LSU over offers from Georgia, Colorado, Clemson, Alabama and many others.
The LSU coaching staff really impressed Jackson with their determination in the recruiting process.
“It’s great, it’s not even just one person, it’s the whole staff,” Jackson said. “Bobby [Barham] told me as soon as I decommitted from tech, their OC texted him and said we have to get this kid, that was the first time the OC has ever talked to him about a defensive player.”
Jackson was on the LSU campus this weekend for the Tigers 48-18 win over Auburn.
“It was unbelievable, it was a big win. The crowd was into it, it was a surreal feeling, and I can see myself playing in front of those fans,” Jackson said.
What was Brian Kelly’s reaction when he gave his commitment?
“It was cool, I told BK first, right after his after game speech,” Jackson said. “Then I told Coach House, and then the running back from Duncanville [Caden Durham], he recorded it and was saying ‘flip! flip!” And then he posted it on Twitter and I was like, ‘dude I didn’t even announce it yet.’ But it was great, it was a great feeling.
How it feels to be committed to LSU:
“It feels great. My coach texted me last night saying he knew this would be the place. Since I was a little kid, I always said LSU,” Jackson said. “So my recruitment is 100% shut down and I’m happy with the decision.
With Jackson’s commitment, LSU now has 25 commitments for the class of 2024.
