With LSU’s defense struggling once again, the Tigers desperately needed LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels to step up - and he did in a big way.

He had a performance that won’t soon be forgotten pushing LSU past Florida 42-35 Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

His 606 total yards of total offense are the most ever in a single game by any SEC player. He also became the first player in FBS history to pass for 350 yards or more and run for 200 or more in the same game.

Daniels' historic stat line consisted of completing 17 of 26 passes for 372 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions with another 234 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

“I’ll say so, as humbly as possible,” Daniels said when asked if tonight was a Heisman moment for him. “ had to give things to God and my teammates because without them I wouldn't be in this situation.”

Daniels has put together quite the Heisman resume for himself with 4,084 total yards and 38 total touchdowns this season.

“He's a phenomenal athlete,” LSU coach Brian Kelly said. “He's the best quarterback in the country. He's the best playmaker in the country. He's the best player now. I've watched them all.”

Despite Daniels’ incredible performance, this game was actually fairly close until LSU pulled away late.

Midway through the third quarter after scoring a touchdown, Florida recovered muffed kickoff and scored another touchdown five plays later to capture a 28-24 lead.

However, LSU scored touchdowns on all five of its second-half drives before taking a knee to end the game.

Daniels accounts for 606 of LSU’s 701 total yards, so naturally, he was the leading rusher and passer.

LSU receiver Brian Thomas was his leading receiver with six catches for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

LSU outgained Florida 701-488. This was the most yards Florida had ever given up in a single game.

LSU has now won 11 of its last 14 games against Florida.

LSU linebacker Omar Speights led LSU in tackles with 12.
