Coen Echols signs with LSU
After Early Signing Day on Wednesday, LSU wasn’t done adding to its Class of 2024, as they have landed four-star offensive tackle Coen Echols.
Echols is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman from Katy High School in Katy, Texas. He took an official visit to LSU on December 15.
LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis was the most significant factor in his decision.
“Coach Davis for sure. Not only him but the camaraderie within the O-Line, and not only the O-Line, but the entire team. There’s no place like LSU.”
Davis’ history of developing offensive linemen was significant.
“It was a big factor. His knowledge for the game is unbelievable. He knows so much about the game and what everyone is doing. He’s proven himself, he has players that have gone to the league that still call him to this day. He’s family to them and he’s family to me as well.”
The four-star offensive lineman makes commitment No. 28 to LSU’s Class of 2024. The depth at offensive line is one of the biggest keys this incoming class brings, as he joins four-star, Weston Davis, four-star, Ethan Calloway, three-star, Joseph Cryer, three-star, Ory Williams, and three-star Khayree Lee.

Echols was previously committed to Texas A&M, where he committed in June. But decommitted from the Aggies on December 8.
Other prospects committed and now signed in LSU’s class of 2024 were also pivotal in Echols recruiting decision.
“They were telling me that LSU is home. They were telling me all the pros about coming t LSU,” Echols said.. “They were telling me about how we’re going to do this as one and go win a National Championship.”
LSU was trending for Echols before he even made his official visit to LSU last weekend.
“I realized it before [the official visit]. Just speaking to coach Davis and everything, I got to speak to Will Campbell as well before, which gave me a lot of knowledge. Once I got there it pretty much confirmed it.”
His recruitment then came down to LSU and Auburn, where he unofficially visited on November 28. He also took an official visit to Auburn in June.
Landing Echols is just another testament to the job offensive line coach, Brad Davis, has done this season. With returners such as Will Campbell and Emery Jones returning, along with the six offensive lineman the Tigers just signed, the front line should be a position of confidence for years to come.
