LSU has secured a commitment from one of the highest-rated prospects in program history.

The No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2025, Bryce Underwood‍, announced he will be playing for LSU on Saturday.

The five-star prospect out of Belleville HS in Michigan was named the Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year this season after completing 64.9 percent of his passes for 3,329 yards and 41 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

On the ground, he added 199 yards and seven touchdowns.

During his three seasons at Belleville, Underwood has helped the team achieve a 36-3 record including three straight state championship appearances. During that span, he has accumulated 9,810 total yards and 138 touchdowns.

For the class of 2025, LSU now holds a commitment for the No. 1 quarterback, the No. 1 running back Harlem Berry‍, and the No. 1 receiver Dakorien Moore‍.

In LSU’s recruiting history, the program has landed the top-rated quarterback before and the top overall prospect, but never a top-overall recruit that played quarterback.

The last time LSU landed the top-rated recruit was in 2014 when it signed Leonard Fournette‍.

In 2009, LSU landed Russell Shepard‍ , the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, but was the third overall recruit according to the composite rankings. Likewise in 2005 LSU landed the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, Ryan Perriloux, but he was the 6th overall prospect.
