Class of 2027 quarterback Colton Nussmeier‍ , says he has enjoyed watching his older brother Garrett play for LSU this season.

Now the southpaw out of Flowermound, Texas has the opportunity to follow in his brother’s footsteps pulling in an offer from LSU this weekend.

“I woke up and I was told to call coach Sloan,” Nussmeier said. “He told me that I had a scholarship to LSU. It felt great adding LSU to my offer list especially with it being my second SEC offer and my family being from there.”

Nussmeier said he’s a bit closer with LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan because his brother.

“I think I do have a pretty good relationship with Coach Sloan because of Garrett,” Nussmeier said. “I’ve got to spend a lot of time around him.”

Although, the Nussmeier family has spent some time living in Louisiana, they actually moved away before Colton was even born. However, LSU is one of many schools he has ties to.

“I wasn’t even born when my family lived in Louisiana,” Nussmeier said. “But, I’ve always liked LSU because of my family but I’ve mainly been a fan of who my dad was coaching at the time.

“It definitely is a great feeling knowing I have an offer from LSU. It’s very fun watching my brother play for LSU and I learn a lot from it.”

LSU offered a litany of 2027 quarterbacks this weekend including Elijah Haven‍, Peyton Houston‍ and Trae Taylor‍. Colton noticed this, but ultimate didn’t think anything of it.

“I did see the other 2027 quarterbacks that got offered around the same time I did,” Nussmeier said. “I didn't really think anything of it.”

Some might think LSU’s field general might take this as an opportunity to be a lead recruiter for his younger brother. However, Nussmeier says Garrett has taken another approach.

“Garrett is not pushing me to go anywhere,” Nussmeier said. “He just makes sure that I keep working and work on my development.”

Colton Nussmeier says he doesn’t currently have any top schools yet, and he wants to take his time to find the right school and fit.
