BREAKING: Safety Tamarcus Cooley commits to LSU
The safety position has been a very sore spot for the LSU program for years. Brian Kelly and his staff picked up a really good one Monday as transfer portal safety Tamarcus Cooley of North Carolina State committed to the Tigers.
The 6-foot, 205 pound Cooley chose LSU over Kentucky, Ole Miss and others.
He was a consensus three-star prospect out of Rolesville, North Carolina in the class of 2023. He originally signed with Maryland.

2024 SEASON:
• Transferred to NC State from Maryland in January of 2024.
2023 SEASON (AT MARYLAND):
• Appeared in two games while redshirting the season.
• Tallied three tackles vs. Towson and one vs. UVa.
HIGH SCHOOL:
• Senior Stats: Hauled in 31 receptions for 426 yards and eight touchdowns and ran 19 times for 121 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, he compiled 54 total tackles, 40 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
• Junior Stats: Recorded 51 tackles including three sacks, two tackles for loss and two interceptions on defense and 14 receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns on offense
• Honors: Selected to play in the 2022 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
• Rankings: The No. 2 defensive back in North Carolina according to ESPN.
