
Amiya Joyner announces commitment to LSU
Kim Mulkey and her LSU women's basketball staff have added East Carolina forward Amiya Joyner through the transfer portal.
Joyner an All-ACC forward announced her decision via social media.
“First, I want to thank God for giving me the ability and strength to play the sport I love. I wouldn’t be here without His guidance and blessings,” Joyner said. “Thank you to Coach Kim, you’ve been like a second mom to me. Your belief in me, your support, and your guidance have meant the world. I’m also grateful for all the other coaches who’ve helped me grow on and off the court. To my teammates, the memories we’ve made and the bond we’ve built will stay with me forever.
“After a lot of prayer and long talks with my family, l’ve decided to enter the transfer portal. This wasn’t an easy decision, but I believe it’s the right one for my future. I’m thankful for the journey and excited for what’s next.”
The 6-foot-2 forward led the Pirates in scoring this past junior season with a 15.0 points per game average and 9.2 rebounds. She Appeared in 32 games with 23 starts.
“I’m excited to welcome Amiya to Baton Rouge after an outstanding three-year career at ECU,” Coach Kim Mulkey said. “She has a versatile interior game that will stretch defenses with her ability to play with her back to the basket as well as facing up. Her knack for rebounding will undoubtably be a welcomed addition to our frontcourt.
“We can’t wait for her to get to work in the PMAC to showcase her talent in front of the best fans in the country while pursuing championships!”
She also blocked 34 shots and registered 52 assists and 36 steals
Joyner prepped at Farmville-Central in Farmville, North Carolina.
