SEC coaches pick LSU to finish third

Birmingham, Ala. – Texas is predicted to win the 2026 Southeastern Conference women's basketball championship in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Texas tops the order of finish, with South Carolina, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt rounding out the top half the league. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Auburn and Arkansas round out the bottom half.

Texas’s Madison Booker was voted as SEC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. LSU’s Mikaylah Williams, Oklahoma’s Reagan Beers, South Carolina’s Joyce Edwards and Ta’Niya Latson and Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes also received votes.

Joining Booker on the All-SEC Preseason First Team are Flau’Jae Johnson, LSU; Mikaylah Williams, LSU; Raegan Beers, Oklahoma; Joyce Edwards, South Carolina; Ta’Niya Latson, South Carolina; Talaysia Cooper, Tennessee; Madison Booker, Texas and Mikayla Blakes, Vanderbilt.

The Preseason Second Team All-SEC is comprised of Essence Cody, Alabama; Liv McGill, Florida; Teonni Key, Kentucky; Clara Strack, Kentucky; MiLaysia Fulwiley, LSU; Cotie McMahon, Ole Miss; Payton Verhulst, Oklahoma and Rori Harmon, Texas.

 

Coaches cannot vote for their own team or players.

 

The 2026 season officially tips on Monday, November 3.
