LSU has been a constant presence in Jayden Anding’s recruitment, and now the Tigers have landed their guy.
The No. 1 safety in Louisiana announced his commitment to LSU, choosing to stay home and play in Baton Rouge. The Ruston (La.) standout becomes the 16th commitment of the 2027 recruiting class for Lane Kiffin and the Tigers. He is the thirdd defensive back to join the class after three-star cornerback Markez Davis committed to LSU on June 8 and four-star cornerback/safety Greedy James flipped from Texas to the Tigers on July 2.
LSU made its final push on Anding’s official visit in Baton Rouge on June 19, a trip that helped seal the deal. The highlight, he says, came under the lights in Tiger Stadium, where the staff laid out exactly how they see his future in purple and gold.
“LSU’s final pitch was really about development,” Anding told TigerBait last week. “I told them that development is my main thing, so they talked a lot about how they develop players, how they put guys in the league and the pieces they have in place to do that. I got to talk with former players and hear from them too, which meant a lot.”
His relationships in Baton Rouge run deep. His brother, Aidan, is currently on the roster as a cornerback and was expected to play a significant role before a season-ending injury during spring camp. His Ruston High teammate, five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson, is already committed to the Tigers, giving Anding familiar faces on both sides of the ball.
Aidan has also given Jayden a personal perspective on the Tigers’ defensive scheme under coordinator Blake Baker, helping his younger brother understand exactly what he’d be stepping into.
“I talked to my brother about him first,” Anding said. “I asked if he really knows what he’s doing, if he likes the scheme, things like that. My brother told me it’s legit. I also talked directly with Coach Baker about his scheme and some of the details. I like what I’ve heard from both him and Coach Olson.”
For Anding, the chance to reunite with his brother at LSU adds an emotional dimension to his decision.
“Playing with my brother was like a dream come true,” Anding told TigerBait in May. “We always used to play outside with my pops, throwing the football around, and we were always competitive. I’ve got two older brothers and both of them motivate me because they work so hard and are so dedicated. Their work ethic is really good, and it helps me be who I am.”
With his commitment now public, LSU locks in one of the top defensive playmakers in the state — and Anding gets to chase his development and NFL dreams right at home in Baton Rouge, surrounded by the people who helped shape him.
