Mulkey, Williams, Fulwiley and Johnson Set to Represent LSU at SEC Media Day
BATON ROUGE – LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey will be joined by guards Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley, along with sophomore ZaKiyah Johnson, when the Tigers take part in SEC Basketball Media Day on Tuesday, October 13, in Birmingham, Alabama.
LSU's women's basketball contingent is scheduled for media activities from 9:25 to 11:50 a.m., including a live appearance on SEC Network from 9:50 to 10:05 a.m. The LSU men's basketball program will also participate in Tuesday's festivities.
The event offers an early look at a Tiger team featuring a combination of established stars, returning young talent and several newcomers as Mulkey prepares for her sixth season in Baton Rouge.
Mulkey enters the 2026-27 campaign approaching another significant career milestone. With 783 victories in 26 seasons as a Division I head coach, she needs just 17 more wins to reach 800. Her career winning percentage stands at .857, while her five LSU teams have combined for a 151-26 record.
Williams and Fulwiley Lead LSU's Returning Firepower
Williams returns for her fourth season as one of the SEC's most accomplished guards.
A first-team All-SEC selection and Associated Press honorable mention All-American last season, Williams averaged 14.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
She led LSU with 50 made three-pointers and 127 assists while also pacing the Tigers in defensive rebounds and minutes played. Williams surpassed 1,500 career points during the season and helped LSU reach the Sweet 16 for the fourth consecutive year.
Fulwiley gives Mulkey another proven offensive weapon.
The 5-foot-10 guard led LSU in total scoring last season with 511 points and earned SEC Sixth Woman of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.
Fulwiley, who has already experienced a national championship and two Final Four appearances during her college career, averaged 12.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.9 steals across her first three seasons.
She also delivered one of her best performances on the national stage last March, scoring a career-high 28 points against Duke in the Sweet 16 while surpassing 1,000 career points.
Johnson Ready for a Bigger Role
Johnson will make her first SEC Media Day appearance after an impressive freshman campaign that earned her SEC All-Freshman recognition.
The versatile sophomore averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds while appearing in 34 games, including 23 starts.
Although recruited primarily as a perimeter player, Johnson demonstrated her versatility by spending considerable time in the post last season. Her ability to contribute at multiple positions figures to remain an important asset for Mulkey.
Johnson is one of three returning sophomores from LSU's highly regarded 2025 recruiting class, joining Grace Knox and Meghan Yarnevich.
New Faces, New Expectations
LSU enters the season with an 11-player roster featuring five returnees and six newcomers.
The Tigers added three players through the transfer portal: point guard Jada Williams from Iowa State, guard Laila Reynolds from Florida and guard Chloe Larry from Tennessee Tech.
The incoming group also features freshman Lola Lampley of Indiana and international additions Noa Morro of Spain and Anna Minaeva of Russia.
With Williams and Fulwiley providing veteran leadership and several newcomers expected to contribute, Mulkey will look to build on a run of four consecutive Sweet 16 appearances.
Exhibition Games Begin October 22
Fans will get their first opportunity to see the Tigers later this month when LSU hosts two exhibition games at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
LSU will face UNT Dallas on October 22 before hosting Loyola-New Orleans on October 29. Both exhibitions will be open to the public.
The Tigers officially open the 2026-27 regular season November 2 at home against Southeastern Louisiana.
