BREAKING: Five-Star Xavier Young Commits to LSU, Will Reclassify to 2027
LSU basketball coach Will Wade has landed another five-star commitment.
Xavier Young, a 6-foot-10, 210-pound center from Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas, has committed to LSU and will reclassify from the 2028 recruiting class to 2027.
ESPN's Paul Biancardi reported Saturday that Young, who turned 16 in March, plans to spend at least two years at LSU before pursuing an NBA career.
Young is ranked No. 9 nationally by ESPN, No. 11 by 247Sports and No. 14 by Rivals in the 2028 class. His rankings are expected to be updated following his reclassification.

The Texas standout selected LSU over a final group that included Tennessee, Michigan, Maryland and TCU. Young received nearly 40 scholarship offers during his recruitment, including offers from Kansas, Houston, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Alabama, Indiana and Texas Tech.
Young made official visits to LSU, Maryland and Michigan in September.
He also represented the United States at the 2026 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup, helping the Americans win the gold medal.
During the seven-game tournament, Young averaged 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 77.8 percent from the field. He scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds against Italy and contributed 11 points and five rebounds against Australia.
Young becomes the fourth highly regarded prospect in LSU's 2027 recruiting class, joining five-star guards Reese Alston and King Gibson, along with two-sport standout Ahmad Hudson.
Alston, a 6-foot-3 guard from Second Baptist School in Houston, committed to LSU on Thursday. Gibson, a 6-foot-4 guard from SPIRE Academy, committed earlier in October.
Hudson, a 6-foot-6 prospect from Ruston, Louisiana, is also committed to LSU football.
Young's commitment gives LSU the nation's No. 1 recruiting class, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello.
Wade and his staff have now secured four commitments for the 2027 recruiting cycle, including three prospects from Texas and Louisiana and Gibson from SPIRE Academy.
