LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is expected to depart for the Baylor head coach opening per multiple sources.

Dave Aranda has served as LSU’s defensive coordinator since the 2016 season. After Les Miles was fired four games into that season, current LSU coach Ed Orgeron decided to retain Aranda when he was named full-time head coach.

In 2019, Aranda’s unit ranked 33rd in FBS scoring and 31st in YPG, which was good enough to secure a 15-0 season and a national championship.

Since 2016, here is how Aranda’s defenses have ranked nationally in points per game:

  • 2018: 27th
  • 2017: 14th
  • 2016: 5th

No official statements from LSU or Baylor have surfaced at this time. See some of the early reactions below.
