The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Nussmeier finished his junior season with 3,788 yards passing with 38 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s a consensus National-100 prospect and one of the elite “pro-style” quarterbacks in this years class.

Nussmeier’s mom Christi is originally from Lake Charles and that is where Garrett was born.  He stated in a recent blog post that despite living in Texas he views Louisiana as his home and that his favorite food is crawfish.

His father Doug Nussmeier played quarterback for Idaho before being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 1994 draft.  While at Idaho he was coached current LSU passing game coordinator Scott Linehan.

He’s currently the quarterbacks coach for the Dallas Cowboys.

With Nussmeier’s pledge, LSU now has nine commitments for the class of 2021.  Eight of the nine commits are from out-of-state.
