LSU has offered 2021 WR Jack Bech
Everyone who has seen class of 2021 wide receiver Jack Bech play has screamed from the roof tops, "Why hasn't LSU offered?". Well, no more, the fantastic Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More product has gotten that offer from Ed Orgeron.
Bech confirmed with TigerBait.com that the offer was extended early Saturday morning.
“I’m pretty excited,” Bech said.
St. Thomas More players were back on campus early Saturday morning to watch film of last night’s win over Westgate and to also workout.
“We were on the field running and then coach said LSU wanted to talk with me,” Bech said. “I talked with coach Mickey Joseph for a little bit and then I talked with Coach O and then he offered me.
“He said they need to keep the talent inside of Louisiana. That really meant a lot to me for him to say those words. Especially since a lot of people look up to him.”
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Bech is currently the all-time leading receiver in St. Thomas More history. Through the first three games of 2020, he has totaled 16 receptions for 411 yards and six touchdowns. He finished the 2019 season with 91 receptions for 1,668 yards and 20 touchdowns, which helped St. Thomas More win the Division II state championship.
Bech’s parents were also excited when receiving the news of LSU’s offer.
“They were really excited and they will pull for me with whatever I decide to do and anything in life really,” Bech said. “They are just happy to see that all the hard work I have done is showing out.
“I’ve told them that the workload is going to be even more because in order to be the best you have to go against the best.”
Bech is currently committed to Vanderbilt and he says he’s going to leave things to a higher power when it comes to how to move forward now that he’s got that LSU offer in hand.
“That’s something that I’m going to let God take care of,” Bech said. “I’m going to put it in his hands, put the ball in his court and just see where things go.
“This might open up some new doors for me or it might night but besides that LSU has been a childhood dream that I never thought those doors would be open for me but that’s something I’ve always worked for and didn’t let anyone get in the way. This was really just a mind-boggling experience for me.”
When word of the LSU offer circulated amongst all of Bech’s Cougar teammates it was pandemonium.
“They thought it was unreal just like when Walker committed to LSU,” Bech said. “Everybody’s jaw dropped and everyone was excited for me.”
St. Thomas More offensive coordinator Shane Savoie was right there when it all happened.
“We were really excited for him,” Savoie said. “He’s the first wide receiver to get offered by the Tigers in our history. We are so proud of him.”
