LSU falls to No. 5 Texas A&M, 20-7
LSU’s defense played well enough to make it a competitive game, but offensively LSU just couldn’t get it done and fell to Texas A&M in a defensive slugfest 20-7.
Defensive woes have plagued LSU for much of the season, but it allowed just 267 yards and 13 points in this game. Despite this improved defense LSU (3-4) could not muster a single point on the other side of the ball.
A pair of true freshmen struggled in this game in place of injured starting quarterback Myles Brennan. LSU’s offense matched Texas A&M’s yardage total at 267 but failed to score until the final minute of the game.
“It all starts up front with the blocking,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. “There’s no room for us to run the football. I think we gotta call better plays. I think we’ve gotta have a better plan. I was really disappointed in our plan, disappointed in our execution.”

TJ Finley started this game and went 9-25 for 118 yards and a pair of interceptions.
Notably, Finely did throw a touchdown to freshman receiver Kayshon Boutte, however, it was wiped off after a review determined he did maintain possession through the ground. a play later he threw his first interception on a tipped pass. His night ended with an interception returned for a touchdown giving Texas A&M a 20-0 lead in the third quarter.
Max Johnson relieved Finley going 14-22 with 113 yards and a touchdown.
Neither QB was aided by a strong rushing attack. LSU ran the ball 25 times for a paltry 36 yards. Tyrion Davis-Price was LSU’s leading rusher with 18 yards on 11 carries.
LSU receiver Terrace Marshall accounted for more than half of LSU’s production through the air grabbing ten passes for 134 yards and the lone score.
Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond had an equally tough night minus one major category - a win.
LSU limited Mond to 11-34 for 134 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. Texas A&M running back Isiah Spiller was the workhorse for the Aggies running the ball 27 times for 141 yards and the only offensive touchdown of the night for the Aggies.
LSU linebacker Micah Bakersville led the way for LSU’s defense with 12 tackles and a forced fumble.
