Time for experienced defensive players to improve

In just a few weeks, LSU’s new-look defensive staff will hit the field for spring football practice.

The trio of new staff members – defensive coordinator Daronte Jones, linebackers coach Blake Baker and defensive line coach Andre Carter – will return nine starters from what was statistically the worst unit in school history.

The two starters who must be replaced are linebacker Jabril Cox and safety JaCoby Stevens, who bypassed another season for the NFL.
