5-star guard Marvel Allen commits to LSU
LSU basketball coach Will Wade has picked up one of the nation's very best prospects in five-star shooting guard Marvel Allen of Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Calvary Christian Academy.
The class of 2023 prospect stands at 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. He chose LSU over offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Memphis and Ohio State.

“Since day one Coach (Kevin) Nickelberry and Coach Wade have shown love to me and my family,” Allen said. "And their playing style, I love playing defense and coach Wade let's his guards ball out, so I felt like it’s the best opportunity. Me and my family prayed, and it's time to get to work.
"Coach Wade is a great coach. He flew down to my game and surprised me and I was shocked. He called me every day and talked to me outside the game of basketball, and he's going to help me become a man. I'm all about structure and I feel like Will Wade can provide that for me."
Allen is LSU’s first commitment for the class of 2023.
