Long before the start of the 2022 baseball season, LSU coach Jay Johnson said that his team’s pitching workload may be handled in an unorthodox manner.
Out of necessity, the Tigers would use their bullpen rather than the starting rotation for a majority of the innings. Following fall practice, Johnson and pitcher coach Jason Kelly realized that LSU did not have multiple Southeastern Conference arms which could get through the batting order three times.
