Some 40 years ago, Clay Parker was a freshman pitcher on the LSU baseball team.

Parker, who also was the No. 1 punter on the Tigers football team from 1982-84, spent four seasons in major league baseball – mostly with the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers – after a four-year stint in the Tigers baseball program.

Parker was a part of coach Skip Bertman’s first two pitching staffs at LSU after throwing for two seasons under coach Jack Lamabe.
