Tigers appear to be SEC’s best

What has occurred on the field so far indicates that the Tigers are the favorite to win the SEC championship. A conference title would mean a national seed in the NCAA tournament – the easiest path to a berth in the College World Series at Omaha, But, LSU has dominated its weak opposition.

Following four weeks of non-league games, LSU is ready to begin its Southeastern Conference schedule Friday night against Texas A&M in College Station.

The Tigers have maintained their preseason No. 1 ranking in every poll – winning all but one of their 17 games. LSU has a RPI of 10 even though its strength of schedule is rated No. 92. The Tigers’ one loss came against Iowa, the only team they have played with a top-100 RPI. The Hawkeyes’ RPI is 13.
