LSU coaching hires in men’s sports should pay dividends

When Scott Woodward took over as LSU Director of Athletics in the summer of 2019, the head coaches in the top three men’s sports were Ed Orgeron, Will Wade and Paul Mainieri.

Just four years later, none of those three coaches is still with the Tigers. Neither Orgeron nor Mainieri is coaching, while Wade was just recently hired to be the head coach at McNeese State.

Orgeron won the 2019 football national championship, but two seasons later he was fired as the program fell apart.
