Second seasons have been very good for the last four Tigers head football coaches – Gerry DiNardo, Nick Saban, Miles and Ed Orgeron. All four coaches won double-digit games in year two at LSU.

On Thursday morning, coach Brian Kelly’s second LSU football team will begin preseason practice.

Kelly’s initial campaign surpassed expectations.

Picked to finish in the lower half of the Southeastern Conference Western Division, the Tigers reached the league’s title game. LSU’s overtime victory over Alabama gave it the tiebreaker in the SEC West standings.

In Kelly’s first season, the Tigers won ten games.
