New-look pitching staff will hold key to 2025 season

Jay Johnson and assistant coach Nate Yeskie have the task of having LSU become a CWS contender while breaking in virtually an entirely new pitching staff. As Johnson correctly pointed out, just two of the Tigers’ top 12 pitchers return from last season.

No matter the level of baseball, a solid pitching staff is a necessity for a team to win a championship.

Jay Johnson is preparing for his fourth season as LSU coach. According to Tigers standards, Johnson has put together one successful campaign. In 2022, LSU reached the College World Series and won the national championship.

In Johnson’s other two seasons, the Tigers were placed in NCAA tournament road regionals.
