LSU football program now has company

As was the case some ten seasons earlier, Ohio State took advantage of an expanded playoff field to win the college football national championship.

In 2014, the first year of the four-team College Football Playoff, the No. 4-seed Buckeyes defeated Alabama and Oregon to win the national title.

The CFP increased the teams invited to the tournament to 12 in 2024. Ohio State, which would not have made a four-team field this season, won four straight games to claim the championship.
