Deep LSU baseball team starts trek to Omaha

Throughout fall and pre-season practice, Jay Johnson has stressed that the talent level of this Tigers team is high. LSU has a deep roster. As many as 15 position players could be a starter in the lineup.

Coach Jay Johnson’s second LSU baseball team won the 2023 national championship – its first in 15 years.

A season ago, the Tigers were not a NCAA regional host team. LSU was sent to Chapel Hill where it lost to host North Carolina in the title game.

On Friday afternoon, Johnson’s fourth Tigers team begins the year against Purdue Fort Wayne in the opener of a three-game series at The Box.
