LSU pitching depth shows out in opening series

There was never any doubt that LSU would begin the 2025 season with a three-game sweep of Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Mastodons were totally overmatched in their meeting with the Tigers. Purdue Fort Wayne won fewer than 20 games a year ago, although it did split a four-game series at Missouri.

Twelve pitchers went to the mound for LSU in the three games. The Mastodons scored a total of two runs – one on a wild pitch and one on a delayed double steal.
