Hitting carries LSU to SEC opening series sweep

The three-game sweep was highlighted by the work of the LSU hitters. LSU finished with 29 runs and 31 hits in the series. No single hitter had an outstanding weekend. However, every player who started a game had at least two hits.

It should come as no surprise that LSU began its Southeastern Conference schedule with a sweep at The Box.

If LSU would have been favored to sweep any conference series this season, it would have been the one last weekend when the opponent was Missouri – the only SEC team with a losing overall record.

Now, the manner in which LSU came away with the three victories may have been unexpected. As a group, the LSU starting pitchers did not distinguish themselves.
