Former 5-star Kate Koval to join Kim Mulkey's LSU program

Former Class of 2024 5-star center Kate Koval will join Kim Mulkey's LSU women's basketball program after one year at Notre Dame.

“Having recruited Kate out of High School, we are very aligned in our vision for her personal development and the impact she can have on our program,” Coach Kim Mulkey said. “Tiger fans will love the skill, physicality and passion that Kate will bring with her to Baton Rouge!”

Koval who stands at 6-foot-5, played in 32 games with 10 starts, averaging 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game (1.7 bpg ranks as the fifth most in program history by a freshman).

She also recorded 55 total blocks, the fourth most by an Irish freshman in program history

Koval was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and prepped at Long Island Lutheran in New York.
