LSU’s path to Omaha has been set

LSU’s path for getting to Omaha was announced Monday morning. The Tigers were one of the eight national seeds, specifically No. 6. So, LSU will not need to leave the friendly confines of The Box for the first two weekends of the NCAA tournament.

For nearly 40 years, the goal for the LSU baseball team has been the College World Series.

Former coach Skip Bertman took the Tigers to their first CWS appearance in 1986. LSU has now reached Omaha 19 times – winning seven national championships. Bertman won five of those national titles in a ten-year span from 1991-2000.

The Tigers have not enjoyed as much success this century as more teams, especially ones in the Southeastern Conference, have placed more emphasis on baseball.
