New pitching approach for Tigers

Don’t be surprised if Jay Johnson decides a different pitching plan for 2026. To get an idea about what may be in Johnson’s mind, one can simply watch the current Major League Baseball playoffs.

LSU’s 2025 national championship season was built upon the one-two starting pitching tandem of Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson.

The two hurlers’ numbers were eye-catching.

Anderson and Eyanson combined for a 24-3 record. The two pitchers struck out 332 batters in 227 innings. Both pitchers had earned run averages below 3.20. Opposing batters hit less than .220 against the pitching duo.

Both Anderson and Eyanson are now in professional baseball.
