Kiffin checks two big boxes in first week

Lane Kiffin has been the LSU football coach for eight days.

Arriving in Baton Rouge a week ago last Sunday, Kiffin had two huge tasks awaiting him.

First, Kiffin had to protect a good signing class put together by former Tigers coach Brian Kelly. The early signing period ran from Wednesday through Friday last week.

Second, Kiffin needed to find a way to keep defensive coordinator Blake Baker from accepting the head football coaching position at Tulane, his alma mater.
