No Happy New Year for LSU basketball teams

The first four days of 2026 brought nothing but heartache for the two LSU basketball programs.

The disappointments began on New Year’s Day when the women’s team lost its Southeastern Conference opener at home by one point on a Kentucky 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Next up was the men’s team first SEC game – a matchup with a beatable Texas A&M team on the road.
