The Tigers have opened the season with eight consecutive victories for the first time since 2011 when they began with an 11-0 record. Texas (7-3) has been good, but not great so far this year. But, without a doubt, the Longhorns will present LSU its first real challenge of the young season.

A rare occurrence takes place this weekend when LSU plays a three-game non-conference series away from The Box.

It has been 12 years since the Tigers went on the road for a weekend series before the start of the Southeastern Conference schedule. LSU dropped two of three games at Stetson in 2007 – Paul Mainieri’s first season as coach.

The Tigers’ opponent this weekend is a 2019 top-20 team and a 2018 College World Series participant.
