Former LSU baseball coach Skip Bertman always liked innings in which his lineup produced more runs than hits.

 

Such a scenario meant that hitters were showing patience at the plate. The batters were drawing walks and forcing the pitchers to have numerous deep counts.

 

Current Tigers coach Jay Johnson is stressing the same philosophy with his hitters.
