Tigers must find answers for starting rotation

The Tigers defense has not been stellar. Opposing baserunners are 22-of-23 on steals. A misplay on a potential game-ending double play cost LSU in the series finale at Texas. Foremost, Mainieri and assistant coach Alan Dunn must get the pitching staff straightened out.

Meeting with members of the media before departing for Austin last Thursday, LSU coach Paul Mainieri stressed that what would happen against Texas does not define the season.

“If we have a bad weekend, we would still be a national seed by winning the SEC,” Mainieri said.

Well, the Tigers experienced worse than a bad series against the Longhorns. LSU was beaten in the first two games by scores of 8-1 and 8-4.
