For the first two-and-a-half innings Sunday afternoon against Kentucky, LSU could not have performed any worse.

Pitching, hitting and fielding were poor as the Tigers fell behind the Wildcats 7-0 in the rubber game of their Southeastern Conference series. All signs pointed to LSU losing a third consecutive league series.

However, the Tigers got their most important hit of the 2026 season in the first game of the second half of the schedule.
